Summer workshops

During June 2017 the workshops on dynamic meditation will be shorter (90 minutes) and on Tuesdays. They will alternate between Espoo (June 6th and 20th) and Helsinki (June 13th and 27th).

Description: Do you want to start practising meditation but don’t know how? 

If you already practise meditation, do you want to go one step beyond?

This course is designed to help you understand and experience the basics of dynamic meditation. You will feel and enjoy the sensation of deep relaxation, and learn to do it by yourself.

What is Dynamic meditation? The main goal of meditation is to relax completely to reach deeper levels of consciousness. There are many reasons to practise it: overcome stress and anxiety, increase your focus and productivity, improve your overall health… that’s why more and more doctors recommend it.

With dynamic meditation you use this deep relaxation state as a starting point to channel your inner focus to solve your day-to-day problems and get long-lasting benefits by consciously reprogramming your subconscious.

In other words, with this kind of meditation you not only empty your mind, but you put your mind to work for you.

What will you learn and experience: At this course you will know more about the basics of meditation: why and how it works, its benefits, and how to start practising it. InstructorFernando Guerrero, PhD from Soturi Coaching, holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and he is a Results Certified Coach. He recently founded Soturi Coaching to facilitate the self-development of people using a mixture of the brain-based coaching methodology with mind control techniques. He has practised different martial arts since the mid-90ies, mainly Karate Shito-ryu and Kali Majapahit. And he also plays the trumpet. In this course there will be a theoric part plus a complete relaxation-visualisation exercise. Consider bringing pen and paper for taking notes. Or even better, a magic notebook

It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and a yoga mat.

Movement, brain and nutrition for a balanced life

Date and location: Sunday January 15th 2017, from 9h30 to 14h at Art Zenter, Kaivomestarinkatu 3 LH3, 02770 Espoo (Finland).

Description: This seminar is an introduction on how to improve your life by taking care of your body and brain. It is divided in 3 parts:

In the first part Kevin Gibbs, Pn1. will talk about some of the effects of a few common postural problems of the lower body on basic movement patterns (squat, hip-hinge, lunge and gait) and our body itself. Kevin will also address basic theory on mobility and show exercises with which one may begin fixing these postural problems. In addition to this, he will address the very basics of healthy vs. unhealthy nutrition, how nutrition affects our genes and offspring, how food affects our body in relation to stress and how sleep can be improved via nutrition, as well as what are some of the possibilities and reasons for people being overweight and how step-by-step habits can be formed for optimal execution of a healthy lifestyle.

In the second part, Fernando Guerrero, PhD, will talk about the brain, our most important organ, what makes us humans and differentiates us from other animals. But as unfortunately it comes without instructions manual (we cannot even see it!), most of the people don’t know how to maximize their capabilities. In this part we will learn the basics on how the brain works and we will go through simple tools to optimize the way we use it for improving performance and to reduce stress and illness.

In the third part, David Muñoz will introduce the holistic martial art from Southeast Asia, Kali Majapahit. This style, which he practices and teaches in Art Zenter, is based on the idea of self-development by utilizing both sides of the brain and finally attaining nearly ambidextrous body skills. Both weapons and empty hands are used. We will discover our dominant brain side and create awareness of the importance of balancing both brain hemispheres. Finally we will test our brains and their filters with a practical exercise of R.E.D. (Recognise & Evade Danger), a revolutionary new international program created by Fred Evrard, founder of Kali Majapahit.

After the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase resistance bands, talk to the instructors and have their picture taken with them. Attendees will also receive the most vital information of the seminar in their email.

Kevin is a certified Trainer4You Personal Trainer, Precision Nutrition certified sports nutrition coach, a student of massage and has participated in numerous smaller seminars and educational programs. Currently Kevin spends a lion’s share of his study-time in learning more about postural problems, what cause them, their effects on the body and how to fix them. Apart from training in the gym, with kettlebells and resistance bands for several years, Kevin has studied Martial arts, such as Choy Lee Fut and Tanglang Gong-Fu, for 5 years. David is a martial artist who spent more than half of his life on the mats practicing different sports and martial arts styles like Kali Majapahit, Goshindo, Kenjutsu, Judo, Ju-Jutsu, Karate, Police Personal Defense, Jeet Kune Do, Boxing, Kickboxing and Parkour. For almost 9 years David was a Police Officer at Madrid (Spain). In 2012, David moved to Finland and is currently teaching Goshindo, a martial art founded by Alain Sailly, for different groups and ages (Ninja Kids, Ninja Warriors, Goshindo Junior and adults). INTRODUCTION TO BRAIN HEALTH AND MINDFULNESS

Date and location: Saturday Dec 3rd 2016, from 10h to 14h in Kasarmikatu 34 B 12, 00130 Helsinki.

Description: Our brain needs to be used to be in good shape, just like the rest of our body, but as it is “invisible” we tend to ignore it. To take care of your brain is the first step toward a hale and hearty life. In this course we will introduce and practice exercises to keep the brain fit and active.

You can also experience the power of mindfulness exercises for yourself! Through mindfulness you are able to find peace amongst the stresses of everyday life. The practice makes it easier to let go, to see matters more clearly and prioritize and to be more kind to yourself and others.

We will have a short lunch break with an optional practice of mindful eating.

Instructors: Fernando Guerrero, PhD from Soturi Coaching will lead the brain health practices; the mindfulness exercises are led by Anna-Maija Tiainen, mindfulness instructor CFM®, M.Sc. from Hetkiä.
